Posted on Thu, 30 Oct 2014
Question: My aunty is 74kg. She has been normally obese from a quite a long time. She also has arthritis problem in her legs which is under control and taken care of properly using ayurvedic treatment.
In the recent past, her weight increased a lot and turned out to be thyroid problem.
After a few weeks, her left eye got swollen and she couldnt see properly since then.
We consulted many doctors, some say it is due to thyroid problem and others say there is a problem in the eye.
It has been 2 months and swelling is still there, in fact in both eyes now.

We do not know what to do now.. the medication is on for last 2 months and no improvement is shown.
Kindly help us in this, what could be the problem ?

Brief Answer:
It appears like thyroid eye disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that your aunty is having eye problem probably because of thyroid problem.

Usually eyes are involved in thyroid problem because of thyroid ophthalmopathy or thyroid eye disease where the eyes protrude and swell. The treatment is by treatment of thyroid problem. At the same time care of the eyes is required to prevent loss of vision.

I would like to know more details like
Medications she is using?
Examination reports and probable diagnosis?

Do get back to me with more details so that I can answer your question more accurately.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
