What Causes Swollen Chin And Blisters At The Back Of The Throat?
Question: Hi... about 6 weeks ago I started 'vaping'... the device you have to suck on it very very very hard, after about 1 week I saw in the mirror a huge bulge would pop out from under my chin/neck area... I found blisters and redness in back of throat. went to urgent care they said 'viral pharyngitis' (tested and no strep throat) Long story short, the blisters, redness are all still there... I have had such a difficult time swallowing over the last month...I am now realizing the 'bugle' huge swelling of my chin/neck looks to actually be my tongue! I think I might have been 'reverse' swallowing for the last month... I am working hard to 'rest' the tongue in the right spot, and also to 'swallow' correctly, which is very very difficult... but this 'bulge' seems to pop out from under my chin with every swallow... or when i am not forcing my tongue to the roof of my mouth.
I am wondering did I damage something? please help me... Ive been to my GP a few times... he thinks 'it will just go away' i've also been to urgent care... who didn't seem to be interested in helping me. please please help. I just want an idea of what it could be and what type of doctor I should go see.

The possible causes of popping out huge bulge under your chin while vaping & red bumps at back of your throat are-
1. It can be a swollen lymph gland under chin- due to the infected wound of extracted teeth. The same infection can affect back of throat ( you have already excluded Staph. infection )
2. The muscle weakening of floor of mouth muscles- due to strong sucking of vapor( vaping )- & either of the thyroid nodules/sublingual lymph gland with some fat around / lymph gland are getting protruded out ( as the muscles of mouth floor fail to support them & they pop out while strong muscle contraction involved in Vaping.
* Management - It would consist of two things-
- Control of infection after finding suitable antibiotic by culture & sensitivity of the swab from teeth wound .
- Diagnosing the mouth floor weakness & it's management with an expert advise.
The muscle weakness might be temporary & would go with rest & stopped Vaping/ hot saline gargles / specific antibiotic & anti inflammatory medicines along with B complex .. specially B12 supplements.
* In this context I would advise an ENT surgeon first He would examine the lesion/ get you investigated & start with the specific treatment .
He will refer you to facial surgeon for necessary repair of mouth floor weakness.. if needful.
* So don't be stressed. consult specialists to get specific management ..to solve the nagging problem you have.
