What Causes Swollen Bumps Around The Nostrils And Chin?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: My daughter is complaining about her chin and the area around her nostrils. Her skin has raised bumps, it burns, itchy, inflamed, dry skin, peeling. It looks worse today. She can't put anything on it, because whatever she uses burns.

What is the best course of action for her cure?

My daughter just bleached her hair and dyed it 5 days ago. Could the bleach and XXXXXXX cause the reaction?
Also she has a cat. We have had the cat for 6 months, could this also be the cause?

Brief Answer:
Either a contact dermatitis or a bacterial infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

From what you are describing seems like she has either had a contact dermatitis from the contact with the dyeing substance, or she is having a bacterial infection.

Can you please upload a photo of the affected area so I can have a look at it ? You can simply upload/attach it at the reports section.

We need to determine if its better to apply a mild steroid cream or an antibiotic.

Looking forward to your follow up question.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
Dermatitis. Apply mild steroid

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Thank you for uploading the photos.

It seem like a dermatitis, so not a bacterial infection. The cause can be anything that might have touched her face or something that she have applied locally, like a cream or soap.

I would recommend to apply a steroid cream. Most used its Hydrocortisone 1% or Triamcinolone 1%, think layer, twice/day. She would accept to be better in the first applications. Continue until she becomes better.

Follow up with me if you want, or see a local doctor if worse or not better.

Hope this is helpful.
