What Causes Swelling On Stomach Post Abdominal Wall Contusion Treatment?
Question: I was injured when I was tubing on vacation. (I was thrown off the tube and hit the water pretty hard) I had pain on my right side that was enough to send me to the hospital. The doctor did an ultrasound and sent me home with a diagnosis of abdominal wall contusion. Almost a week later I'm dealing with swelling all on my right side stomach. My back hurts at the end of the day and I'm pretty uncomfortable. I just need to know if this is all normal for my injury?

The swelling and the pain one week after the injury is a normal finding. A skin discoloration is also normal in the area. You can do a hot fomentation in the area and get an oral muscle relaxant prescribed from your physician for relief. This should subside in another week.
In case the pain is intense and the swelling is gradually increasing then a medical attention is needed to rule out any infection in the area.
