What Causes Swelling In Tonsils And Uvula?
Question: I have had swelling in my tonsils and uvula (spelling) for 5 days now........no sore throat just fullness in that area and sore to touch under my jaw line.......

After going through description, I do feel you could be suffering from either mucositis (inflammation of the mucosa of the oral cavity) or Laryngo-pharyngeal reflux secondary to the acid reflux from the stomach into the throat.
A thorough examination of the oral cavity can help us in diagnosing the actual cause.
At present, you can try the following measures:
1. Drink plenty of warm water; this will reduce the inflammation of the mucosa soon.
2. Try using povidone iodine mouth gargles - to reduce the inflammation of the mucosa and also the pain
3. Avoid chilled food and beverages/coffee/smoking/alcohol (if any)
If the symptoms do not subside, please consider visiting your doctor for a complete evaluation and management.

Thank you for your time just thought i would pass on my findings......i went ahead and saw a dr this afternoon and have an ear infection and tested positive for strep didn't realize i was running a low grade fever also i am starting antibiotics tonight hope the swelling will be better in the morning thanks for your time
