What Causes Swelling In Between Breasts?

Posted on Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Question: I am overweight and I do have a question about a bulge that appears a few inches below in between my breasts. It gets smaller when i lift my breasts up but i can still see a slight bulge. Does not hurt at all. I think that it might be my xiphoid process sticking out a little bit with excess fat. I was wondering do you think the same?

Brief Answer:
could be lipoma or hernia

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

To me it appears as either a lipoma or epigastric hernia (though its a bit high for the hernia). This swelling need a clinical examination. In my opinion, only physical examination will differentiate between the two.

Lipoma seems more obvious as I said its a bit high for hernia. If I am proved right, you can opt for surgical excision under local anaesthesia. It can be left alone too as lipoma is completely benign and harmless.

Hope I have been helpful.
