What Causes Swelling In Arms After Taking Pnueumovax And Fluzone Shots?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: I got a pnueumovax 23 and fluzone hd flu shot September 30. I just noticed swelling in both arms and the area is red, itchy and warm. Apparently, I'm some kind of an allergic reaction. Should I be taking some kind of action right now to resolve this or should I just let this run its course.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Reactions are known to occur 50% of the times.
2. You can apply cold pack to reduce swelling if any, and take antihistamine like cetrizine to reduce itching. Fever can come occasionally, you can take paracetamol for it. Symptoms will disappear within two days.
3. If symptoms are trouble some, you can take medications. It will take two days XXXXXXX to reduce.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
