Brief Answer:
see below!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

The swelling is caused by the fact that blood drains to the legs when seated and if return fails to be done appropriately, swelling would develop. The swelling here is painless, and dents when pressed. If you put on tight fitting shoes, you would be able to clearly see the marking of the shoes. If this occurs only in such positions, it is not something you should be too worried about at this time as it is common in persons of your age group. Raising the legs would allow this problem to get resolved or it would overnight as you go to sleep.

I hope this helps. I wish your sister in law the best of all possible outcomes. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
Which of the fingers hurt most?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up question.

Which of the fingers actually pose a problem when sleeping? The first 3 or the last 2? If they are the first 3 fingers, then this is most likely carpal tunnel syndrome in which the median nerve is trapped as it passes through the wrist. This would be easily provoked when you happen to position the hand poorly or lay on it.

For now, please specify which of these fingers is the main call for concern.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
