Posted on Wed, 23 Apr 2014
Question: Ive been taking dr prescribed testosterone for approx 4 months. My last injection was this past Saturday. Within a day or so i noticed the area was swollen. No redness or heat of any kind. Just feels like a hard area around the injection site in my gluteus. Is there a cause for concern

Brief Answer: Follows. Detailed Answer: Dear Sir, Thank you for posting your query on HCM. Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it can be local induration after intramuscular injections which generally subsides in a day or two . If there is no redness and warmth or fever there is nothing to worry but in case any of these symptoms occur there can be a possibilty of gluteal abscess . Then you will need to see a physician for this because examination will be required to see for the development of abscess . A course of antibiotics will be needed then . Take care. Dr. Shruti
