What Causes Sweet Smell Of Urine?

Question: My urine has this sweet smell for the past 3 weeks. What causes this, I read it could be uncontrolled diabetes. I was told my A1c was high and that i had prediabetes and I am taking 2 melaformin a day.

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have noticed that your urine has sweet smell.

This is clear indication of you having type two diabetes ,

Please consult qualified Diabetologist and get following basic tests done to see level of diabetes.
1) Blood Sugar fasting on empty stomach and 2 hours after lunch
2) Serum Glycoselated Hemoglobin (HbA1c)
3) Blood Urea and Serum Creatinine
4) Urine routine

You need to monitor your sugar levels to keep your diabetes well controled under guidance of Diabetologist by taking drugs or Insulin suggested by him.
