Brief Answer:
neurologic exam followed by a cervicak spine MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have been through your question and understand your concern.

The sudden onset of the complaints suggests for a vascular origin, while onset during the night (especially paresthesia) is indicative for nerve entrapment.

The EMG reports show some chronic suffering odd C7 C8 and T1 right roots. These findings do not correlate with the clinical presentation which is acute.

Anyway, this is the first exam. I recommend you to follow with a detailed neurologic exam of the arm and especially the right hand and fingers. This would be more important than EMG. Then an MRI of the cervical spine would clarify the situation, deciding the following strategy of the treatment.

Hope this helps with your questions, please feel free for further questions.

Wish your mother good health.

Please let me know is this something serious and if untreated what does it lead to.
Also let me know if this can spread to the other arm or legs.

Brief Answer:
you need further evaluations

Detailed Answer:
Hello again. I cant tell you how much serious it is at the moment. Maybe it is not at all. But for sure you need to schedule a neurological examination as I explained before. Once you perform that the situation will be more clear. It is not an emergency for sure.

I wish your mother the best health.
