Question: I have been having periods where I cant walk half a block and I start to get tightness in my throat and I get dizzy. My ankles and feet are swollen. I had one episode when I took the trash out. with no warning I started to get dizzy. as I came in the door I fell to the floor. I couldn't get my breath and was sweating profusely even though it was only 60 degrees.

Brief Answer:
Immediate evaluation by specialist in valvular heart disease recommended...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

You are reporting to have bifurcated aortic valve. I need to know if you have performed cardiac ultrasound? electrocardiogram? coronarography so far to evaluate if stenosis has occurred?

Because the symptoms you are currently having are indicating possible stenotic (narrowed) aortic valve and need immediate evaluation by a specialist in valvular heart disease. Discuss this further with your family doctor to refer to this specialist and keep following up with him/her.

All the best!

I had the test done ,forget what its called, where they send a camera at the groin to check arteries, heart, etc. I was told that my arteries were ok, but my aortic valve was calcified and didn't close completely. could this be the problem?

Brief Answer:
If calcificated, the aortic valve gets stenosis causing your symptoms...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

The test you did is called "angiography" which checks the blood vessels including those of the heart and main arteries like aorta.

As the aortic valve resulted calcificated, this causes the stenosis following the symptoms you are having. This is what I've been talking earlier. If the aortic valve gets stenosis, then, the symptoms are as you are having right now; while further consultation with specialist in valvular heart disease is highly recommended to check if there is any possibility for surgery and if yes, the best surgical option.

All the best!
