What Causes Strong Body Odor?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Oct 2016
Question: I've noticed I smell like left over frying oil even after bathing. Happened before about 10 years ago but eventually went away. What could be the cause? It's been about 2 to 3 weeks now. Can't get rid of the smell.

Brief Answer:
Needs work up and management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Smell like oil even after bathing has many possibilities. It could be due to overactive sweat glands and producing sebum which is causing this sweat , either influenced by warmer climate or hormones like thyroid imbalances or estrogen imbalances as age of 47 is near menopause and may be a prodromal sign.

I would also like to consider change of soap, perfumes, clothes, prefer cotton clothes, that allow air ventilation, minimise sweating, keep the armpits and groins free of hair, change your soaps etc and see if it helps. Talk to a dermatologist and let them sort it out.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getitng back to me

Imbalanced diet, recent surgery and too much protein intake can be the reason for this smell. But its too early to comment on the diagnosis or reach the cause prior to any work up, so i would suggest wait and see.

I hope it helps.
