What Causes Stress Incontinence Of Urine?

Question: Hello Doctor, my grand mother aged about 76, she has excess urine problem. If she coughs also the urine get passed and night and all she cant even control going till bathroom. and she has to use almost 4-5 pads at night for excess urine. Doctor generally what cause this problem and which kind of medicine she should take. Or please suggest with whom we should meet for consultation.

It is painless release of urine with sudden increase of abdominal pressure due to cough, sneeze, etc. It happens due to defect in the outlet of the urinary system either the sphincter is weak or it is a hypermobile bladder neck. Some things that may work in such a scenario are Kegel exercise to strengthen the pelvic muscles. Estrogen cream and surgical tightening of urethra can be tried in order to help with it.
