What Causes Strange Rainstick Sound In The Neck?

Question: I often get a odd sound in the back of my neck it sounds like a rainstick and kts not heard by my ears i can hear it inside my head if that makes sense its like when you pop your ears and can hear your voice inside your head and i can feel the vibration from whatever it is it usually happens when i wake up but has happened at different times as well. It sounds just like a rain stick if you dont know what that is its a musical device you can look smples of it up online to get an idea of the sound it makes its like a trickeling in the back of my spine any ideas on what this might be? What kind of dr should i see about it?

Hello,
I have studied your case. As you want to know who will deal with this problem then my answer is orthopaedic surgeon with spine specialist. As far as I believe it is not a serious issue. Most common cause of such sound is either snapping of tendon or facetal joint arthritis. This sound is not indicator of any disease unless it is accompanied by pain or redicuolpathy. As in your case this is only sound so no need to rush to doctor.
