Question: Dear doctor,

My daughter is complaining of stomach pain since last 10 days.
She passes motion more frequently during these days.
We were trying to give her lots of curd, food like idly, curd rice etc and avoid spicy and other food for couple of days.

It came down but again she reported pain 4-5 days back and we went to doctor and doctor prescribed:

Oflomac,
Colpep
Econopen - XXXXXXX

Yesterday she was again complaining of stomach pain.
She was taking rest for couple of hours in the morning and then she was normal.

Please let us know what the problem could be and whether we should take/continue these medicines?

Regards

Brief Answer:
Please continue the medicines as directed.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details. Your daughter seems to have a gastrointestinal infection. Usually it is self-limiting. However, if antibiotics like Oflomac are given, you should complete the course. Econopen is a probiotic and contains beneficial bacteria similar to that contained in curd/yogurt. It should be given for a few days. Colpep can be given too. Please continue the medicines as directed.

In addition, I would suggest you to get a stool microscopy done. In case there are undigested matters, a different outlook has to be taken and malabsorption syndromes need to be explored.

Regards
