Question: I am 7 weeks pregnant and me and my 2 year old had a stomach bug recently. We both were vomiting and had diarrhea. Today I had my first normal bowel movement since being sick and when I wiped the toilet tissue had blood on it. I double checked and it was not vaginal bleeding. It was coming from my rectum. I have urinated several times since this happened now and everytime a small amount of blood leaks from my anus. Is this a serious concern that I need to go to the ER for or can I wait until I can go to Urgent care tomorrow?
Brief Answer:
Wait and go to urgent care tomorrow!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about the stomach bug you and you son had and this recent blood you have noticed in your stools.
From all the information you have provided, there is no emergency rushing to the ER right now. If it were coming fro the vaginal, I would have suggested you do but from the rectum in minute volumes that can not cause any major complications related to bleeding, there is no need to get worried and go to the ER now. Urgent care tomorrow would do just fine.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for clarifications and more information if need be. I wish you a safe pregnancy and delivery.
