What Causes Stomach Cramps And Diarrhea?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Oct 2014
Question: I have severe sickness with a little diarrhoea. More sick though. Can't even keep water down. Bad stomach cramps & I feel cold. My granddaughter had a sick bug last week but no other members of the family have this. I am vomiting orange clear water.
I usually take thyroxine 50mg in the mornings along with citalopram 20 mg but haven't been able to take them today as constantly being sick. Approx every 20 mins.

Brief Answer:
Might be due to stomach bug

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Your symptoms are probably be due to a stomach bug.
A stool test may be done to confirm.

Loose stools and vomiting can lead to dehydration. So drink adequate fluids including oral rehydration solution to remain well hydrated. If there is persistent vomiting or if the urine output is low or if you feel drowsy, go to ER for immediate medical attention.

You may also require a course of antibiotics to eradicate the stomach bug and antispasmodic medications for stomach cramps.

I hope that answers your question.
Regards.

I am trying to sip a little water but I am bringing up more than I am sipping & it seems to add to the stomach cramps. My GP doesn't give antibiotics unless you are dying so that would be out of the question. Is there an antispasmodic that can be bought over the counter?
Could you tell me if I should try & take the thyroxine & citalopram or would it be ok to miss a couple of days.
Thank you
