Question: Hello Sir,
I have been suffering stomach ache (Just below my chest and above my belly button) since past 2-3 weeks. Other symptoms being severe gas and acidity trouble and pain seems to happen as soon i have something to eat. I got my Blood test and USG done. Nothing serious was reported in USG and all parameters were normal. However my Blood culture reported increased count of WBC (13800) which indicated some severe infection. My Gastroenterologist doctor recommended me Bifilac, Anta Acid Syrup - Tricaine - MPS, Dompan - RS. I have been using this prescription for past 5 days but so far I my pain has not reduced. Can I use Metrogyl to get ride of my infection? Please suggest if these symptoms could be early signs of stomach Ulcers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your detailed feedback.
Pain in the back with pain in the upper abdomen which increases on eating something is suggestive to confirm or rule out the gastric ulcer.
I would advise you the following cosidering all the history of illness and medication and the investigations that were done:
- Get CBC and other investigations of the blood including sugar, urea, creatinine, liver function tests and culture and sensitivity.
- Urine tests
- Stool for 3 consecutive days including that of Lactose intolerance, occult blood and so on.
Upper GI endoscopy is a must tests to see whether there are ulcers or signs of inflammation of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
Colonoscopy to see why the change in bowel
CT scan of the whole abdomen.
-Metrogyl certainly can help you.
- Further course of an antibiotic effective against intestinal infection can help you more.
- Please continue the treatment as you are already on.

All the test are needed to decide the cause of these symptoms to get a proper diagnosis and a proper plan of treatment.
