What Causes Spotting When Meprate?
Question: Hi. During my hysterocopy a endometrial polyp was found and after biopsy it was diagnosed with atypical hyperplacia. doctor advised for uterus removal. After that I taken 2nd opinion with other doctor. He did my hesteroscopy again and biopsy of endometrial cell too. This time report was normal. But seeing my earlier report of atypical hyperplasia he adised to take 30 mg meprate daily for three months and den biopsy will be repeated. After almost 1.5 months I got my periods which didnt stopped for 15 days. Den my doctor increased my daily dose to 40 mg. Still i am getting spottings sometimes. Please suggest is this normal. Or getting periods during intake of regular meprate is normal or what. Also am I getting right treatment.

Thanks for your response. One of my question remain unanswered that whether period should come during continues treatment or intake of 30 or 40 mg meprate daily. Is periods during this treatment normal or it should not come? Also what should I do even my 2nd biopsy comes normal after this 3 months of treatment??

Hello dear, I know its difficult to decide but if you desire to preserve your uterus then you need to take meparate in high doses for 3-6 months and then get a repeat biopsy.
If shows atypia opt for hysterectomy but if second biopsy is normal then you can avoid hysterectomy with a regular follow up with your gynecologist in the form of yearly transvaginal ultrasound and a record of mensyrual regularity.
In case your periods get irregular or there intermenstrual bleeding then report to your doctor immediately.
It is common to have mild spotting off and on while taking meparate in continuous way so don't feel bothered.
