Brief Answer:
Urine pregnancy test should be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Spotting at periods time can be due to pregnancy or due to hormonal disturbances like hypothyroidism.
I will suggest you to get an urine pregnancy test done.
If negative, then you can wait for the periods for another week.
stIstill delayed, then you should get your hormonal profile done including thyroid hormone levels and prolactin levels.
Ultrasound should be done if the hormonal levels are also normal.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
