What Causes Small Nodule On Prostate?

Question: Yes, you hopefully can give me some guidance. I'm a 69 year old male in very good health. I take only flomax and synthyroid. My PSA exams over the years have never been above 1.00. My F/T PSA ratio recently was26%. During a DRE, my urologist felt a small nodule on my prostate and suggested that I take a 4K score test which I did. The result was 13%. My urologist was pleased and tried to explain the context of the score which I did not necessarily follow.

My question is whether given my age, PSA scores, etc, the 4K score was good bad or indifferent. Any context would be most helpful.

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your Urologist on DRE noticed small nodule on prostate and prostate biopsy was done to rule out the same which is reported Glenson's score to be 13%.

The Glenson's score is related to extent or possibility of cancer of the prostate ,and is not related to the age of he patient .

Unfortunately, you did not answer my question. I did not have a prostate biopsie, I had a blood test-a 4K Score test the result of which was 13%. My question relates to the test result-how should that be evaluated? Good, bad or indifferent given my demographic, historical and current psa tests and good health. It's my understanding that the 4K Score is not a XXXXXXX score.

Thanks for follow up .I am sorry for wrong interpretation about K Score test with Glenson's score .

The 4K score Test is (blood test) very important test especially useful for biopsy decision in patients whose other test results are normal. Based on the patient's 4K score Test results, the Urologist can take a decision about whether or not to perform a prostate biopsy.

It is indicative of patient likely to get advanced prostate cancer ,

Higher the score more is the risk of one getting advanced cancer of prostate in next 10-15 years .

Since your score is 13% there is no need to go for prostate biopsy to confirm or rule out cancer of prostate .
