Question: ive had pvcs/pacs on and off for years now. I jad a cardiac ablation for svt years ago and no svt since but the past two uears palpitations really bad. I feel them all the time. some days I have alot like today other days not many. I've been seen by cardio alot bc im so worried and stressed out
about it. all my past ekgs have been fine and had an echo in 2012 that was deemed normal with ejection fraction of 65. my cardio has said I dont need another one. anyways my question is tonight my skipped beats have been really bad on and off. at times bursts of them like 10-15 per minute. every time I bend over or change position I get them. why?? also am I in any danger? I dont have any other symptoms. should I worry?? How can these be benign? ? I am 27 year old female

Brief Answer:
PLease, have you ahd an EKG done recently?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query,

I am so sorry to hear about these skipped beats and all the inconveniences this must have caused you. I will like to know if these skipped beats were reported felt them yourself. If this is your personal impression, I will like that you get this confirmed by a doctor.

I understand you are worried about your heart. The truth is that getting too worried may rather provoke all the symptoms you have reported. Being to worried often leads to anxiety and panic disorders that manifest with palpitations.

I know it may be difficult to understand why a doctor would tern your condition as benign,. In medical terms, this means that it presents no threat to you a this time and needs no specific treatment. You have to be comfortable with this and accept it lest you would always be worried and this will not help you in the healing process.

I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Thanks for using our services.

Yes I had ekg about a month ago at routine visit. Was normal. I have had several holtors monitors and they confirm my pvsc/pacs when I feel the skipped beat sensation. One showed around 800 in one day but cardio was not concerned said they usually only worry when 10 percent or more of total heartbeats are pvcs. One monitor only jad 15 pvcs so they seem to vary widely in amount. I do have anxiety disorder. I have anxiety from the sensation of the palpitations and worry they will lead to a dangerous rhythm like ventricular tachycardia. How likely is that to happen?

Brief Answer:
I cannot give exact figures,,,But controlling your anxiety would be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. Are you being managed for this anxiety? If not, please ask your doctor for management. It may require drugs or cognitive behavioral techniques.

I don't have information to say what the immediate impact of anxiety on your PVCs would be. However, I will suggest that managing your anxiety would for sure be an overall positive addition to your health status.

Lie your doctor mentioned, it is benign and you should feel comfortable with that. There is really no indication for treatment right now.
