What Causes Shoulder Pain?

Question: Doctor is sending me to a surgeon i got an mra of my shoulder for a torn labrum i guess its fine an my rotator cuff is fine what will the surgeon do

ideally you should be visiting a orthopaedician where he can repair the torn labrum of yyour shoulder as early repair is better to prevent future resrtiction of movements if allowed to heal on its own by fibrosis.

My labrum isnt torn though i got an mra an it was fine ...i still have pain in my shoulder an the doctor thinks its deep in my joint where they cant see it in the mra so what wil lyhe surgeon do ?

Brief Answer:
You dont seem to have a labrum tear.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query .

Well looking into the history that you have given I would like to tell you that if your MRI of shoulder joint is not showing labrum tear then that possibility is ruled out . There can be several reasons for shoulder pain . The supraspinatus tendinitis and inflammation of various bursas located in the shoulder joint is most common. Since any tear is ruled out I dont think any surgical intervention is required.

A short course of antiinflammatories is the best remedy for all these .Plus rest to the joint is very important . You should avoid doing exercise or overhead movements plus lifting any object . A course of naproxen 500 mg twice daily for 5 days will be appropriate . you can discuss regarding this with your treating doctor.

Take care.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for reverting back.

Please dont worry nothing of this sort is going to happen , surgeons dont touch the case until and unless they have a clear cut indication for their intervention .So be rest assured they will not be doing anything as there is no labrum tear .

Most of the sholder pains dont have a definite diagnosis and heal on their own so it will settle down . You can go and meet the doctor being suggested to you and then discuss what he thinks about this as there is no indication for surgery .
