What Causes Shoulder Pain After A Heart Operation?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Oct 2014
Question: Hello, My name is XXXXXXX and I'm 57yrs old. I'm three weeks post op for a dual lead pacemaker because I was in Mobitz type 2 second degree AV heart block. Is it normal this far post op to have recurring aches in my left shoulder, across my chest and up the sides of my neck? I'm still experiencing a little bit of the chest tightness and shortness of breath with exercise but I'm much better now than before. Thanks so much for your assistance.

Brief Answer:
Normal, wait for another couple of weeks...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I am happy that op was a success. Hope it will resolve your problems. With regards to pain you are feeling, it is normal to experience it after the op. I advise to wait for another couples of weeks to see if any change.

All the best!
