Brief Answer:
Needs relaxation techniques.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Most cases of shortness of breath are due to heart or lung conditions. Your heart and lungs are involved in transporting oxygen to your tissues and removing carbon dioxide, and problems with either of these processes affect your breathing.

With lungs functions all clear and happening only at afternoon and not at night these are likely innocuous shortness spells and mere anxiety can explain them. Had it been heart related it would have been more at night. We call that PND. Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnea.

Waking up with shortness of breath at afternoon could be related to posture you sleep in. Avoiding the puffy beddings or where your airways get compressed may lead to air hunger.

Try these deep breathing exercises and see if those help. How ever i would like you to get evaluated for complete heart functions and rule out any cardiac problem underneath for this dyspnea.

Apart from these deep breathing exercises, you may try some other relaxation techniques like
Hypnosis
Massage
Meditation
Tai chi
Yoga
Biofeedback
Music and art therapy

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
