Question: I quite smoking 6 weeks ago, I am doing good with it, but, I was working around the house doing gardening and then went for a walk, had a hard time catching my breath and was wheezing. Is this normal or should I be concerned?.

I am 50 years old and have smoked since I was approx. 20 yrs old. Smoked about half a pack per day. I would like to start working out and walking, but am concerned about my breathing??

Brief Answer:
This could be exercise induced asthma!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this difficult breathing and wheezing that you experienced exercising. This is typical of exercise induced asthma. I will like to see you evaluated and managed for this condition. We have medications that can be taken shortly before exercise to prevent this from happening as well as rescue inhalers should symptoms set in. You would be able to exercise normally without any difficulties once this is completely mapped out and managed appropriately.

I will like you to read more on this from a trusted site. Please, come back with more question if clarification or more information is required.

I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well and tank you so much for using our services. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarification should need be.
