What Causes Shivering In Body When Suffering From Typhoid?
Question: Good day Doctor, please I've been having typhoid for quite some time now. I just concluded a full dose of 14 days IV of cefepime last Saturday. I'm still feeling my body shivering and I did blood test today which confirms that I still have typhoid.
please what next should I do or what drug should I take to clear this typhoid from my body?

I am so sorry to hear about the long battle that you have had with typhoid fever. This treatment is adapted and unless there is documented evidence of antibiotic resistance in your area, there would be no way that a typhoid bacteria would continue to survive.
The unfortunate story is that typhoid test(WIDAL) stays positive several weeks to months after a successful treatment. This is why it is never the best test for diagnosis and immediate follow up unless the titers are being measured for comparison. A negative control test after a positive diagnostic test means you were successfully treated. However, a positive test after treatment needs to be correlated with your clinical signs and symptoms and in no way suggests an active infection.
The only way to say you have typhoid fever at this time is to do a blood culture/stool. Any serologic test at this time is of no added value unless it is clearly negative. I will recommend that you do nothing in the immediate aftermath of this treatment. I believe you are recovering and this would take sometime before all the symptoms disappear. If your symptoms persist beyond a week, please kindly ask your doctors to forget about typhoid and take a new look at your disease condition. Typhoid would most likely be a distractor and not the main focus for at this time.
