default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: I am having sharp pains in the center of my upper stomach right were the two ribs come together . I've had diarrea for three days, it seems to be slowing down. My temp was 100.4, with chills. When I eat my stomach aches. My heals of my feet hurt ( which may or may not be related. I wasn't feeling well for two weeks prior to these symptoms. I slept continuously. My joints and muscles were also aching really bad as well as my lower back. I have never been sick. Not diabetic, I have low blood pressure usually 90/60. No heart disease.
Yet I did notice my ankles have been swelling off and on. I seem to have a problem with sodium my body doesn't tolerate it well. So i took LASIK for two days and they haven't swollen anymore.

Brief Answer:
Acid reflux

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I am here to help you my best. I have read your query in detail and i understand your concern.

It seems you are suffering from Acid Peptic Disease/ Acid Reflux Disease following acute gastro enteritis.

This usually presents with pain in upper part of abdomen as you have described.
I would advise you to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone and to take anti flatulent and anti acidity syrup like Digene/Gelusil for symptomatic relief. Don't consume any alcohol, in case you do.
You should never take Lasix when you are suffering from acute diarrhea, as it can cause severe dehydration in your body which is already dehydrated as a result of diarrhea.
Joint and muscle pains can be because of your viral diarrhea or due to electrolyte depletion as a result of diarrhea and Lasix.
I would advice you to take Electrol ORS for the purpose.
In case your pain persist even after taking these medicines, i would like to rule out any evidence of Gall Bladder stones that can cause the pain.If you have any hunger pains, any fullness of stomach or gaseous distension of abdomen after taking meals, you should go for:
1. Upper GI Endoscopy- To rule out Peptic ulcers.
2. Ultrasound Abdomen- To rule out Gall Bladder stones.

Share my opinion with your doctor before acting upon it.
I hope it helps. If you have any further query please ask me.
