What Causes Sharp Pain In The Chest?
Question: I am having chest pain presumably in my pectoral muscle above my heart. There is a sharp pain when I left things or stretch at a certain angle. There is also discomfort when I take a deep breath. The pain started about 9 days ago and we were moving some boxes from one house to another but I cant recall an event that triggered this. I am terrible at making appointments so really just curious if this sounds like a temporary, random event that will go away in another day.,
I am 31 so I am pretty confident I am not about to have a heart attack.

Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I agree with you on the fact that your symptoms do not seem to be cardiac related.
So there is nothing to worry about any heart attack!
In my opinion, your symptoms are caused by a stretched muscle, probably related to the physical exertion.
Anyway, I would like to reassure you that this situation is temporary and you will recover in a short period of time.
Massage of this area can be helpful.
I would also recommend taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the pain.
It is also necessary avoiding straining physical activity during this period.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
