Brief Answer: Please find detailed answer below Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX Thanks for writing in to us. A severe abdominal or stomach pain can occur due to many reasons. It is important to know your age, gender, duration and nature of pain in details along with periodicity and aggravating or relieving factors. The back pain and stomach pain might be interrelated. Pain in abdomen is commonly due to stomach, bowel, gall bladder, kidneys and pancreas. Any associated vomiting and diarrhea are indicators of stomach infection. Pain associated with food intake can be due to ulcers in stomach and duodenum. Central upper abdominal pain is usually associated with pancreatitis and is seen in those who have regular alcohol intake. Stones in gall bladder cause severe pain in the right upper abdomen and is characteristic. Kidney stones cause pain in upper abdomen and radiates to the sides below. Any upper back pain should also be evaluated for heart problems. Therefore we can see that the pain you have must be investigated in a systematic manner. I suggest you consult your doctor immediately and get necessary tests done. Wishing you a quick recovery. Waiting for an update from your end. Regards, Dr.Vivek
