What Causes Severe Rashes On The Leg After Taking Zyrtec And Atarax?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Sep 2017
Question: I was prescribed Zyrtec and hydroxyzine (generic Atarax) together, and had a very bad skin reaction, a bad, bumpy rash, and severe pain. I have MS. Doctor said that was not possible, after a few days. It has now been about 5 weeks, and is still very bad. What type of doctor should I see? He suggested a dermatologist, but would a rheumatologist or neurologist be better?

Also, I have a dark purple bruise under my left large toenail; happened at the same time as the other reactions

Brief Answer:
Consult dermatologist.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the images you have attached.
You should definitely consult dermatologist.
Possibility of RA associated skin lesion is more likely.
Rarely MS can also have skin complications.
So better to consult dermatologist first.
And zyrtec and Atarax are not having any such side effects.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
