Question: I had a horrible Botox injection in the glabella 8months ago.The day I got it my forhead swelled my left eye started dilating strangley and I got strang muscle pulls above moth eyebrows .Nit Spock eyebrows ,but pulls above the eyebrows making my forhead have constant strange lines .My head had the worst pressure and shooting pains of my life for months. My eyes were diagnosed with severe dry eye which I have been trying to treat with drops.Since the injections I got night sweats which are still happening making me wake through the night drenched. Also for months I could not even touch my eyebrows because they were so painful and swollen .Now I have a prominent indentation in one and a cut in the other. They are flat and do not look like my old eyebrows. There is no ridge above my brows anymore .My lids became heavier and assymetric .Did this injection actually collapse whatever vein or muscle is in the eyebrow ?I can make a scowl but it does not go as far as it used to.Also will these night sweats ever stop.I have also been left with numb eyelids ,numb forhead and numb side of nose into P of the eye and eyebrow probkems.Im devastated.

Brief Answer:
Possible Off target side effects of Botox?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your query in detail.

As per your described symptoms, you possibly seem to have off target side effects of BOTOX TOXIN.

There seem to be few features of facial paralysis along with features of misfired route of drug administration.Forehead swelling is a consequence of this.

Many of these effects last from 6 weeks to 3 months and are self resolving.

Dry eye can be prevented with frequent instillation of eye drops of METHYL CELLULOSE.They act as lubricating agents.

The numbness will gradually recover.

The inappropriate folds take approximately 3 months to recover.

A short course of oral steroid medications may help.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these pills to you.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Facial slings may be of help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam

Yes certainly the off alignment of eyes is probably related to the muscles affected by Botox.

Since, its been more than 8 months, I advise you to go for facial muscle sling support procedure, that can help to stabilise the eye muscles and give proper alignment.

For this , you need to consult an expert Cosmetic(Plastic surgeon) for appropriate management.

A short course of low dose steroids will certainly help.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

So now I am 8months post Botox and worried maybe they lied and it was filler? My eyes are so out of alignment .Im now assymetric and very numb in my face. Also I feel like the eyes are sunken in?If it was Botox is it possible to still be sunken in and possible that the eye muscles would still not be working properly? My eyelids were burning and swollen for a good 3months.

Brief Answer:
Possible Botox toxicity

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

All your eye conditions are directly related to Botox toxicity.

In few cases, the symptoms can last for 6-7 months.

Its advisable to visit an Otolaryngologist/Or a Cosmetic surgeon for further expert management.

I have visited so many Drs inquiring about my problem and hoping for help but none want to be involved because they feel they are going against the plastics place who made this horrible mistake. They all seem stand off about the situation .I am left in pain every day with misaligned eyes and now assymetry numbness and numbness.I am truly scared .My GP thinks that being on anxiety meds will calm me enough that things will just get better??i find this ridiculous and think that I need a steroid to kick this out of me or something. This pressure causes my eyes to shake back and forth under my kids when I lay on my side at night to go to sleep. One dr said it's possible that there could be Botox doing this to the eye musckes and that it could take maybe a year til o see normally?Others claim no way Botox could do all this? What do you really think?

Brief Answer:
Facial features are suggestive of Botox toxicity

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

These features are directly related to Botox toxicity/maladministration.

As said early, an early short course of oral steroid pills like Prednisolone will help to improve your symptoms to a great extent.

As per one of your doctor's opinion, this symptom profile can take one year or so for complete recovery in few cases.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
