What Causes Severe Pain On Right Side Of The The Belly Button By The Ribcage?

Question: Healthy and fit 42 yr old. Last 2 weeks terrible squeezing pain on right side to the right of belly button by ribcage. Doctor did bloodwork and urine test and all came back fine. I had reflux and burning pain in center of chest that immediately went away when doctor started me on prilosec. He thinks reflux might be connected to pain on right side but i strongly disagree. He didnt seem concerned at all and said if pain gets worse we could do a cat scan. He also mentioned kidney stone. Its a horrible pain that is affecting me from concentrating and feels like a pain of one of my organs wreaking havoc. Its not a pulled muscle pain but an ill feeling pain, almost as if i was kicked in the groin. I worry about cancer. Can you give me an opinion? He gave me vicodin to help with the pain. Never had anything like this before. Ive already had my appendics out years ago.

Brief Answer:
Needs work up

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking!
As you already had a reflux issues so i suspect a biliary involvement. You should get some hepatobiliary work up like ultrasound abdomen, liver functions profile, pancreatic functions assessment, renal functions assessment.
The likely possibilities are for biliary colic, renal calculus, IBS, cecal diverticulitis etc.
Of all the worries cancer should be the last one. That has totally different presentation usually painless so stop worrying and seek a gastroenterologist, let them do some work up and get a complete clinical correlation for you.
Antispasmodics for the pain, soft and fibrous diet and plenty of fluids to judicious intake ( 2 litres a day minimum) is advised. Seeka gastroenterologist and let them sort it out for you.
Take care. Don't forget to close the discussion please.
