What Causes Severe Pain In The Feet?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Nov 2016
Question: I have seen 5 doctors in the past 3 years for severe pain in my feet. I have had cortisone shots which initially worked for a short period of time, but then stopped having any effect. I was diagnosed with plantar faciatis, had surgery on one foot, but both feet still hurt. Burning, shooting pains, swelling and some discoloration when swollen. I recently had an EMG which showed nothing. What are my next options

Brief Answer:
Further testing is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

If you were my patient, I would order tests such lumbosacral spine X-rays and MRI in order do evaluate/exclude spinal cord stenosis, spondylolysthesis etc. as a possible cause of your symptoms.

I would also seek for any legs vascular problems (peripheral artery disease, deep veins thrombosis), by ordering blood tests about inflammation levels and Doppler ultrasound.

Please discuss with your primary care Doctor about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
