Posted on Wed, 10 Sep 2014
Question: My 12 yr old daughter has been getting severe pain over her left breast which comes and goes also feeling nauseous, and has the occasional hot flush but no temperature. She has just started menstruating for the first time and is also on crutches for a fractured ankle. Can the chest pains be from overdoing it on the crutches at all or something else?

Brief Answer:
It looks like musculoskeletal pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Breast pain can be due to Lesions like Fibroadenosis, Fibroadenomas etc. They are diagnosed by clinical examination. An ultrasound is done for diagnosis.

As your daughter is using crutches, pain may be due to musculoskeletal cause. Can you describe the chest pain in more detail, especially about the location, what makes it worse, etc?

Usually, I prescribe skeletal muscle relaxant tablet to my patients with similar complaints.
If there is no response, I will ask for Ultrasound of the breast .

Hope I answered your query.
Nothing to worry.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
