What Causes Severe Migraines Along With Nose Bleed?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Oct 2014
Question: Hi my mother had been experiencing migraines more and more frequently and began getting nosebleeds about 2 months ago, she is now having them daily. Today while at work her vision went blurry (she describes it as looking like a kaleidoscope or triangles) she became dizzy and off balanced. She went to see her MD and he said it was stressed. She came home and began to vomit. I believe there is more going on here. She is 48 years old.

Brief Answer:
Your mother needs to investigate.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

If I were your mother treating doctor, I would advice her
Investigation like Blood pressure , Blood sugar , Complete blood count with heamoglobin to rule out any systemic cause .

For repeated nose bleeds your mother need diagnostic nasal endoscopy to see the cause for bleeding. You need to consult ENT specialist.

Till the investigation done ,for migraine i would advice her sumatriptan 50mg during attack & Propranolol 40mg to prevent attack of migraine .

For repeated nosebleeds Steam Inhalation twice daily & Saline nasal spray thrice daily. Also Multivitamin syrup twice daily & injection Vitamin K .

You can discuss this with her treating doctor.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
