What Causes Severe Lower Back Pain?
Question: I'm a 35 year old male.I occasionally drink and smoke.I've been having severe back pain in the mid-lower section during the early morning hours for the last one month.Some times the pain moves to my abdomen or the right side of it.However,immediately after I get up from my bed, the pain disappears.Last month I got my annual health check up done and all the tests including blood,stool,Urine,USG of abdomen,Chest X-Ray gave normal results.One year back I was advised to have gastro medicine for a few weeks by a specialist when i visited him since I had loose motion.Please let me know if there is anything i need to worry about

As per your description, the pain seems to be originating from spine.
You should take a MRI of Lumbosacral spine.
Nerves that are coming from Intervertebral disc might be compressed leading to pain in that area.
Till then, I prescribe skeletal muscle relaxant tablet containing Thiocolchicoside to my patients with similar complaints.

Thanks doctor.I will get the MRI done.Just to add another line which I missed earlier.I have pain in my knees too,only when i climb down stairs.Is it related to my back pain?
