What Causes Severe Low Back Pain And Swelling In Testicles?

Question: I have severe low back pain to the point that I cannot stand for more than 5 minutes at a time before my right leg seems to go out I must sit and even then the pain is so severe until I rock and find a suitable position to aleviate some of the pain. I also have been having swollen testes I thought it was caused by my back some how. I am 65 and no sex. I have had an ultrasound done and a pelvic MRI with contrast on my back. My Dr gave me an antibiotic for the first bout of the swollen testes, the urologist said that I have zero problems down there. now just my right teste is swelling and painful and larger than before. It feels as though it will break out of the scrotum sack. Usually in the late afternoon or evening but I hobble around to get out of a sitting position or getting out of bed to get to the bathroom. I figure that the testicle has something to do with my back it has been unbearable since last December I have to wait for refferals now I am waiting to see a pain management Dr. My Dr has told me nothing of my condition but he did have his young nurse call me and ask me if I wanted to see a pain managemnet or a surgeon one of the two. My first thought was the pain this cannot go on I have borrowed a wheel chair for in the house. I cannot lift my arms for lonbg to wash dishes or cook without the severe pain in the low back taking medication holding my neck back causes pain there as well. Having a bowel movement, sleeping, coughing, stretching are terrible. what bothers me is that my Dr hasn't told me anything of my condition I don't know what choices I should make, and these refferals takes a minimum of 5 weeks to get into somewhere. If I make a wrong choice I have to wait longer I am at a loss as what to do. The report of the MRI came back as spinal stenosis, degenerative disk, buldging disc and pinched nerves and stated that it was clinically significant, what ever that means. The first time I went for my back to the Dr. I have noticed that I have gone to him several times with the symptoms I have discovered he did x rays and had his nurse call me and say that I could get a MRI or go to physical therepy. I chose the MRI that time I thought I should know exactly what is going on before being manipulated while I am in severe pain and this is where I stand. Can the testes swell due to all of these lumbar problems?

Brief Answer:
Pain management

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query .

I have gone through your entire problem and I feel that Pain management will be more beneficial . Your MRI report is suggestive of degenerative changes with lumbar stenosis , surgery will be useful when there is neural compression that is when you are having tingling and numbness across the legs . If its only pain then physiotherapy and pain management will be appropriate because that will improve your quality of life and make you do your daily chores which is most important .

It is unlikely that your testes problem is related to back . Since you have already been seen by urologist and he think nothing is there then it will be difficult to comment . Considering present situation I think you should go for pain management .

Take care.

I forgot to mention that Both of my lags are numb but can feel bugs crawling sensation. I have gone to my Dr.s for symptoms of my problem as I am researching for the last 10 years. Then I noticed that my big toe was numb on each foot since Dec 13 there has been rapid changes as the numbness grew up each leg over that period of time, I have become quite clumsy lately as my legs give out become weak and all of this pain going on in my low back and hips prevents me from moving in the direction I want to go. At this point I have to swing my legs to take the few steps that I can, that is because of neural compression which is mentioned in my MRI report. In your response you thought pain management would work best if I don't have neurological problems which I think is why the numbness is spreading. My teste problem comes up in the afternoon and not all of the time but now and last night just my right teste was the hard swollen one with the pain that a male gets when hit in the teste area I think that I need a second opinion from a differrent urologist. Thank you for taking the time for this.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for reverting back.

Its difficult to make a choice but neurological symptoms always take the priority so the nerve compression needs to be relieved surgically only then the symptoms will get relieved .

Secondly regarding the testes problem I agree with you that probably a second opinion is required . Plus I would advise you to search other treatment options in other countries where you can get the care comprehensively as regarding health issues choices dont work every health aspect has to be looked at .
