What Causes Severe Left Sided Abdominal Pain While Coughing?

Question: I have no appendix...but have some pain on my right side when coughing or turning over in bed. One side of my stomach does not feel any different than the other. Pulled muscle maybe? I have been doing quite a bit of painting the last week. Doesn't seem to bother me other than the coughing or sneezing or turning over.
