What Causes Severe Fatigue And Dizziness After An Injury?

default
Posted on Fri, 15 Apr 2016
Question: I had a car accident 6 weeks ago. I still feel dizzy and tired after about a half hour of any activity. CT scan of the brain was done on the date of the accident and last week. Does not show anyting abnormal except for "nasal deformity" due to fracture of the nose as a result of the accident. SO why am I still experiencing dizziness and tiredness? Also, could the meds be affecting me? I was feeling tired before this.

Brief Answer:
Tiredness due to physical and psychological stress loading.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Since both CT scans of the head and brain did not show any brain traumatic injuries, head trauma is excluded as a possible cause of your symptoms.

You need to get blood pressure monitoring and blood tests to evaluate any anemia. Liver, thyroid and kidneys function tests are needed to discover the cause of your tiredness.

Since liver was found fatty, it is possible to have been damaged gradually by the drugs you use. Also, trauma precipitated your symptoms because of the physical and mental stress load.

I suggest you to discuss with your primary care Doctor about assessing this possibility too, as a cause of your concerns.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

What about the dizziness and persistent feeling of neuralgia? Is that related to the accident or stress also?

Brief Answer:
Stress could be one of the explanations.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Dizziness and distorted sensations such as neuralgia could be features of stress situations too.

However, neuralgia that you refer, needs to be evaluated further by a Neurologist because it may be related to other conditions such as peripheral neuropathy that in your case may be caused by diabetes.

Hope I helped you.

Best regards.
