What Causes Severe Cramps, Pain And Bloating In Stomach After A Miscarriage?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Aug 2016
Question: For 2 to 3 months, when I lay on my stomach I have pain in it. Its kind of like cramps or an intense bloating feeling. It is then hard to get up because the pain is in my lower back too. I have had a lot going on emotionally for other reasons, so keep forgetting to tell my doctor. I did have a missed miscarriage, D&C, then a hysteroscopy to remove scarring from Asherman's Syndrome recently, but was then cleared to start trying to get pregnant again. Just finished my period though so not. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Uterine contraction due to Asherman's Syndrome adhesions/fibrosis....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Asherman's syndrome is characterized by adhesions and/or fibrosis of the endometrium. The adhesions cause painful uterine contractions especially during monthly cycle/ovulation.

If the pain you are having is cyclic, then, it is due to uterine adhesions/fibrosis.
If not cyclic, and if the pain persists all the time, then, other causes should be considered including bowel issues. Are you having such pain or bloating after eating/drinking also?

If only cyclic pain, then, another re-evaluation by gynecologist is recommended.

I think it is more than just during my cycle. My period ended a couple days ago & I woke up with the pain today. My Dr said the hysteroscopy removed all the scarring, then I went back for follow up 6 weeks later & it had not come back & said I was healthy & cleared for pregnancy.
I do get gas & bloating from some foods I eat, like some dairy. Could the scarring have come back or only if it happens only during my cycle?

Brief Answer:
Try changing your diet first....

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

From the new data you are providing, it seems related to gas problems you have. Gas will distent the bowels, they will press the nearby nerves causing the pain sensation.

Try to avoid those foods that makes you bloated:
- dairy
- carbonated drinks
- beans
- sprouts
- cauliflower, etc.

Take probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora and see the difference.

Hope it helped.
