Question: I have this digestive problem and its been really really disturbing me for years and not getting a solution...before i was living with it thinking it is normal and thats the way i am.i wake up in the morning wait for around 10 mins in the loo so that i have a bowel movement which is never the same anyday...then after 20 mins i have to go again and i never felt like its out all..but then i have to go to work..so sometimes it feels that ill be fine and somedays i feel uncomfortable....then in the evening around 5pm my whole abdomen feels burning...like its on fire...and when i reach home i force myself to have a bowel movement and thats when i feel okay..went to many doctors said everythgs fine...
Now i have been coping with that till now that the problem is somewhere i cant manage...disturbs my life..3 months ago i was infected with hpylori and i had gastritis...so i took the medicines and it was gone...but since that time my problem has been worse...accompanied by the incomplete bowel movement i feel like my chest is soo cold...and some pain in the upper middle abdomen area...i also feel like my throat is on pressure....and i dont remember last when i had a normal stool...
The first bowel is hard..and in small pieces...
Then the second bowel movement is very soft and accompanied by chest pains and burping...though it is loose i still feel its not all out...and i have to go for the third time which is more loose but smaller in quantity....during the bowel movement..when i try to get whats remaining...i also hear roaring noises from stomach or i dont know wether its the intestines when i inflate or pressurise my stomach....now i have almost 4 bowels a day....and the evining ones are accompanied by feeling like acid or gas pains
The cold burning effect in my chest is usually accompanied by a lot of burping.....
So now...what is all wrong with my body..
Every doctor has a different say...one said dyspepsia...another said ibs...another said it cant be ibs ...and m not getting any help
Or is it that watever i ear doesnt get utilised in my body and just goes as waste..
Because i have tries eating alot sometimes and it troubles me..causes more bowel problems....is there a solution to all this...

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query. Your problem seems to be due to slowing of intestinal movements. Our gastrointestinal tract has a forward propulsive movement (peristalsis) that moves the food material forward as it is digested, absorbed and finally expelled as feces. If somehow this movement gets hampered, food along with the digestive juices would stagnate, stomach acid will reflux into the food pipe leading to chest pains, burning and gastritis, and on the other hand the bowel habits would not be proper. Degradation of undigested food in the intestines by the intestinal bacteria would lead to the excess gas formation and dyspepsia.

In order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
* Take Prilosec (omeprazole) once daily before breakfast.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fibre intake.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* If I had a patient like you I would perhaps have suggested Prodep 20 mg tablet once daily for at least 2 months (it may take time for the action to set in).
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.

Hope that helps.

So is it the slow intestinal movements that cause me the bad mornings?
Or is it food moving quick such that none is utilised.
Because my first movement is like constipated
The others like diarrhoea...looser and looser with every 2-3 bowels.and almost all are burny stools
My diet is veg only.

Detailed Answer:
Constipation typically alternates with diarrhea and what you need to do is to increase the fiber content of the diet. The rest I have discussed. Try the suggestions and I am sure that you would see the difference.
