What Causes Severe Bladder Spasms After Surgery For Kidney Stone?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: I recently had surgery 4 days ago. They removed a kidney stone, the opening to the kidney was made larger and a stent is in place..Is it normal to have severe bladder spasms? I just found out I have a fractured rib on the same side as the surgery..Can any of these irritate each other? I walk daily..Is this going to hurt me?

Brief Answer:
Bladder spasms are due to stent..

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been operated for Kidney stone 4 days back and have severe bladder spasms.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Was the stone located in kidney or Ureter.?
2) Was a procedure PCNL or URS done to fragment the stone .?

The spasms of the bladder are common due to stent in renal unit and one gets accustomed to it within a week.

Fractured rib and surgery will not irritate each other .Endoscopic procedure that is done does not give pain per say.Your pain could be due to fractured rib if it is recent one and will
subside as it heals up.

Your daily routine activities will not have any negative effect on healing up and it will ot hert at all.

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to write if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards .

It was located in the kidney 5.6cm..It wasn't able to pass because the ureter was very small. Im not sure what they used.. I do know it was blasted..:)
