What Causes Severe Angina Post A Heart Attack?

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Jan 2017
Question: hi! my boyfriend is 44 years old, and had a heart attack about 4 months ago, as a result of getting an electric shock. since then hes had another few ?smaller heart attacks? farctions? anyways, since all of that, hes been suffering with angina. i dont think hes on any medication for the angina, though ive told him to ask his doctor about nitros.

but anyways! all of his heart problems and various ins and outs of hospitals have left his body in pretty bad condition. it started that when he was in hospital he caught a few flus, and since then he just keeps on getting sick. in the last two months you pretty much just have to look at him funny, and he catches a flu. its just endless. hes pretty much immuno-compromised, now. is there anything we can do to boost his immune system so he stops getting sick?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you have asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that in this clinical situation there is not too much you can do.

A multivitamin could be helpful.

Regular physical activity ( aerobics, yoga) could also help improve his physical performance and immunity.

It is important a periodical check up ( every six months) including:

- physical exam
- chest X ray study and respiratory function tests
- cardiac ultrasound and ECG to examine his heart function and exclude possible heart failure
- complete blood count
- blood electrolytes
- kidney and liver function tests
- fasting glucose.

If heart failure is diagnosed, an optimization of his therapy may help improve his physical performance.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
