What Causes Scanty Periods After Taking I Pill?
Question: hi doc,
i am 23 yrs old.on 7th XXXXXXX i had an unprotected sex with my partner,on 8th XXXXXXX within 24 hours i had consumed an emergency contraceptive pill(ipill).within 2 hours after consumption of the pill,my periode had been started.for first 2 day it was so little like a few drops,after that it became normal for 3 days.after that it stopped but some blood came to my vagina but not on the napkeen.my previous peridoic date was 10th or 12th may,is there any chance that i am pregnant?any kind of pregnancy including an ectopic pregnancy?

First and foremost let me reassure you there is no cause for concern. The chance for pregnancy is nil.
If your previous cycle was on 12 th May, you had unprotected sex on 26th day of your cycle(7th day) which is considered safe period . It is justa couple of days before your expected periods. Possibility of pregnancy during this period is highly unlikley. Second reason is , you had taken Emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours of unprotected sex. I pill taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex is highly effective in preventing pregnancy irrespective of day of cycle.
The irregular bleeding you have experienced is due to withdrawal bleeding of I pill( I pill contains Oestrogen hormone and decline in level causes some vaginal bleeding).
As the chance of pregnancy is nill, pregnancy test is not recommended. As you insist you can go ahead with Home Urine pregnancy test ( Velocit is one of the brand name). Its easily available in almost all pharmacy. It is simple to carry out with instructions being mentioned.
