What Causes Redness Under The Eyes?

default
Posted on Thu, 18 May 2017
Question: Hi I drove for 4 hours today.
Before starting the drive there was no problem.
after the drive I washed my face and experienced some irritation under my eyes.
I also washed before the drive however there was no such problem.
so I am attaching two pictures.
1. with the eye in normal open position.
2. with eye stretched with fingers. a little white thing on the cut area is the cream I have applied.

so basically there is a general fold under our eyes or you can say a default wrinkle, I noticed that there is a little red cut throughout that wrinkle lune, I have no idea what is this, it has never happened, please help me with the cause and treatment.

I suspect it was the continuous ac in the car which caused this, but it has never happened so I'm not sure.

I am feeling a little pain or irritation cause of cut and dryness

Brief Answer:
Eyelid dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and I have viewed the image.
Eyelid dermatitis, is probably a result of irritation due to soaps/ creams etc that you may be using on your face.
I suggest you to avoid soap and use a gentle cleanser for face wash e.g Cetaphil gentle cleansing lotion, twice daily.
For the affected area you may use Futivate cream, twice daily for a week.

Brief Answer:
Eyelid dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Just apply a thin layer on the affected area, twice daily, for a week. That should be good enough. Be careful that the cream does'nt get into the eye.
Avoid soap. Use a gentle cleanser e.g Cetaphil gentle cleansing lotion. Don't wash your face frequently. Washing twice daily would be enough.

Regards
