What Causes Redness And Peeling Skin On Penis Head?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Sep 2015
Question: 61 year old male. Developed redness and some peeling of skin of one side of penis glans, about 1 month ago. It has not changed, does not hurt or itch, no oozing. I have tried several remedies to date. Vaseline, Lubriderm, Areo Vera, and Cotrimazole 1% for about 4 days only. In monogamous relationship with wife, who has no health issues that I am aware of. I do have Urologist appointment scheduled, but two weeks from now, and a dermatologist two weeks after that for follow up of other skin conditions.
I have a recent history of rashes, which are now under control with use of daily lubriderm application, but I occasionally have a flare up, on the trunk of body, legs, and for what ever reason my ring finger.
never have I had any rashes in the genital area. I am circumcised. I would like not to wait for my appointment and do something now. Can I restart the Cotrimazole 1% for the next two weeks?
Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Than you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Can be most likely eczema.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to eczema. If you send a picture of it then it will be more helpful in identifying. For such case using corticosteroid cream will be helpful.

You can go for ointments or creams with combination of antifungal like miconazole, anti bacterial like neomycin and corticosteroid like flucinolone for local application.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

I have uploaded three pics.
1324 shows left affected side
1325 shows normal right side
1323 shows from straight on

I am have been using Eucerin repair, not Lubriderm as indicated in original email, to other areas of body with good results. No other problems.
On affected area I started applying again the Cotrimazole 1%, 3 applications so far. This is my second day of applying it. Morning and night.
In between applying 98% Areo Vera twice a day also.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Explained below.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your follow up query.

I have gone through your pictures. It looks like eczema. You can continue using aloe Vera gel or cream. Using the ointments with combination of antifungal, anti bacterial and corticosteroid like the one I mentioned earlier will be helpful along with that.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
