What Causes Redness And Bumps On Face, Scalp, Shoulders, Chest And Back?

Question: I had a bad sunburn on the inside of my elbows (left and right ones are in the pictures) and it doesn't appear to have gone away in a few weeks. The thing is my dermatologist diagnoses me with a fungal overgrowth that is causing my face, scalp, shoulders, chest and back to have some redness and bumps but I'm not sure if the issue in my elbows is caused by the same thing or if this is a different issue as I haven't read about fungal overgrowth occurring on the arms and my dermatologist didn't see these as I wasn't aware at the time. I'm just wondering if this is a different issue that requires alternative treatment or if it could also be caused by fungus. I have an appointment with my dermatologist in a couple days but I just want to check if it is necessary or if it is definitely the fungus.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Fabric dermatitis; moisturizer and topical steroid

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have taken note of your query and I have also reviewed the Image.

This does'nt seems a fungal infection to me. This looks more like a dermatitis to clothing or fabric.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use a moisturizer over here, twice daily. In addition I would suggest a molerately potent topical steroid e.g triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% Or fluticasone propionate 0.05%, twice daily.

I guess this must be itchy as well? An OTC oral antihistanine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic rlief from itching.

I remember I answered one of your previous query in which I kept Seborrheic dermatitis as one of the possibilities for redness and bumps on face, chest, shoulders etc.
Seborrheic dermatitis is caused by fungal overgrowth i.e malassezia furfur, a yeast. I think this is what your doctor diagnosed your earlier symptoms as.
