What Causes Red Lines On The Legs?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: i have red lines on both legs that run about 6-8 inches long and are a few inches above the knee, and about 4-5 inches below groin area. I am a 33 year old female. Just noticed this when I woke up this morning. They do not hurt or itch, just worrying me because I am on multiple meds. I was diagnosed (within months ago)with mild crohns disease, and started sulfasalazine for inflamation 5 days ago. I am also on cymbalta 60 mg for widespread pain in joints, dexilant for gastritis and bile reflus, and sucralfate for ulcers. Im not sure if the streaks on my legs are from my puppy potentially and unlikely scratching me, or if it is a reaction which I have no other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Seem to be nothing but scratches

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
I have checked the attached images very carefully. They do not seem to be anything other than scratch marks. Since they are not itchy, I would not consider allergy, eczema or mite infection. They do not seem to be what is known as dermatographia, which is often seen as a reaction to certain medicines. So, scratches seem to be the most logical possibility.
As of now, I would not insist you to be proactive. Wait and observe. Unless further unexplained scratch marks appear you need not worry.
